SUMMARY:Into Film Festival - The Super Mario Bros. Movie
DESCRIPTION:THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE\nCert PG | 2023 | Dir. Aaron Horvath\, Pierre Leduc\, Michael Jelenic | Action-Adventure/Animation/Family | USA/JAPAN | 92 mins \nWe are very excited that SFW and Into Film Festival are coming together again in 2023 to offer school groups the opportunity to enjoy fabulous film\, and we will once again be screening at MAST – Mayflower Studios on Guildhall Square in Southampton. \nThe Into Film Festival is a free\, annual\, nationwide celebration of film & education for 5-19 year olds.  It helps educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds across the UK by inspiring young people to watch\, understand and make film in new and creative ways. \nWe are offering 2 films this year\, The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)\, with an age guide of 7-11 and Polite Society (2023) with an age guide of 11+ \nPlease note that booking for this event is through Into Film only. \n \nMario and Luigi are two optimistic Italian-American brothers living in Brooklyn who have recently started their own plumbing business. Though their family aren’t so confident that it’s going to work out for them\, Mario and Luigi spend all their money on a TV ad promoting it. But after their fix job goes badly wrong\, they attempt to restore their reputation by fixing a city-wide leak. Heading into the sewers\, they fall through the pipes and are transported to a mysterious fantasy landscape where they become separated. Luigi ends up in the Dark Lands as a prisoner in Bowser’s castle who he learns is intent on taking over the Mushroom Kingdom and marrying Princess Peach. Mario\, meanwhile\, befriends the enthusiastic Toad who takes him to Peach where Mario pledges his loyalty. Together the trio must convince the rest of the kingdom to join their cause and resist Bowser’s threat. ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ is a faithful adaptation which references both familiar and fan-favourite elements of the beloved video game series. \nTaking place from 7-24 November\, the Into Film Festival helps educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds across the UK by inspiring young people to watch\, understand and make film in new and creative ways. \nInto Film supports teachers and educators to achieve a wide range of effective learning outcomes in their use of film. Their programme includes the Into Film+ film streaming platform\, a network of extra-curricular Into Film Clubs\, resources for use in clubs or the classroom\, face-to-face and online training opportunities\, an annual cinema-based film festival and the prestigious Into Film Awards. The programme has been designed to meet the needs of all four nations in the UK.
