We are very excited that SFW and IntoFilm Festival are coming together again in 2022 to offer school groups the opportunity to enjoy fabulous film, and we will once again be screening at MAST - Mayflower Studios on Guildhall Square in Southampton.
The Into Film Festival is a free, annual, nationwide celebration of film & education for 5-19 year olds. It helps educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds across the UK by inspiring young people to watch, understand and make film in new and creative ways.
We are offering 2 films this year, Clifford the Big Red Dog (2021), with an age guide of 7-11 and Sing 2 (2021) with an age guide of 5-11.
Please note that booking for this event is through IntoFilm only.
Emily Elizabeth is an ordinary but lonely schoolgirl growing up in New York City, struggling to fit in at school and home. While she is being looked after by her hapless uncle, she stumbles across a cute bright red puppy in a mysterious animal rescue tent. Finding the dog in her bag at home, she is amazed to wake up the next morning to find the puppy has grown to more than 10ft high. After becoming an internet sensation the dog attracts the attention of an evil corporation carrying out genetic experiments on animals, who seek to claim Clifford as one of their own. But the community have taken Clifford to their hearts and fight back. Adapted from the beloved book series, this is a delightful family comedy with real heart and valuable messages around community, anti-bullying, and loving creatures of all shapes and sizes.
Taking place from 8-25 November, the Into Film Festival helps educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds across the UK by inspiring young people to watch, understand and make film in new and creative ways.
Places will be offered for free on a first-come, first-served basis, with attendance this year limited to one school group per event to help us to ensure the safety of all attendees and allow us to maximise the impact on the largest possible audience of children and young people across the UK.
Into Film supports teachers and educators to achieve a wide range of effective learning outcomes in their use of film. Their programme includes the Into Film+ film streaming platform, a network of extra-curricular Into Film Clubs, resources for use in clubs or the classroom, face-to-face and online training opportunities, an annual cinema-based film festival and the prestigious Into Film Awards. The programme has been designed to meet the needs of all four nations in the UK.
