We are very excited that SFW and Into Film Festival are coming together again in 2021 to offer school groups to enjoy fabulous film, and we will once again be screening at MAST - Mayflower Studios on Guildhall Square in Southampton.
The Into Film Festival is a free, annual, nationwide celebration of film & education for 5-19 year olds. It helps educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds across the UK by inspiring young people to watch, understand and make film in new and creative ways.
We are offering 2 films this year, Mary and the Witch's Flower (2018) with an age guide of 5 - 11 and Minari (2020), with an age guide of 14+.
Please note that booking for this event is through IntoFilm only.
Mary and the Witch's Flower
Gentle anime which sees a young girl embark on a magical adventure after finding a mysterious flower.
A dazzling, mystical adventure film based on Mary Stewart’s classic children’s book ‘The Little Broomstick’ which sees 12 year-old Mary staying in the countryside with her Great-Aunt Charlotte. There she discovers a flower of magical powers that only blossoms every seven years. After the flower brings a nearby broomstick to life, Mary finds herself whisked away to a mysterious place called Endor College, a school of magic run by headmistress Madam Mumblechook and Doctor Dee, where she is welcomed as one of the students. Soon enough, though, things take a dangerous turn, and Mary must embark on a journey to set things straight. The first film from Studio Ponoc – some of the creators behind the much-loved Studio Ghibli – this is a gentle anime comprised of beautiful storytelling.
Into Film will be strictly adhering to all current Covid-19 Government guidelines, with continuous monitoring of the Public Health guidance in each UK nation. Please visit the MAST website to check out their specific Covid-19 measures.
Places will be offered for free on a first-come, first-served basis, with attendance this year limited to one school group per event to help us to ensure the safety of all attendees and allow us to maximise the impact on the largest possible audience of children and young people across the UK.
There is a minimum booking size for each event at this year’s Festival. As each event will only have one group attending, we're encouraging schools to book as many seats as they can to ensure that as many young people as possible can benefit from the Festival. The exact minimum booking size for this event can be found on the booking form.
