A Southampton Film Week favourite, Short Story Cinema 1 is the first of two evenings offering exceptional film to celebrate the short film format. Delivering powerful visual and creative storytelling in just a few minutes, the short form continues to grow in popularity and interest. Join us to welcome guest curator Caroline Hajny and filmmakers for a post-screening Q&A.
London based director Caroline Hajny’s visually distinctive style has led to collaborations with brands and artists such as Puma, Vinted, Dua Lipa, Red Bull Racing, Barbour and Amazon. Her latest short film ‘Diary of a Ghost’, a short drama exploring the topics of grief and mental health, is currently taking the festival circuit by storm.
Each film has been carefully selected by Caroline to complement the haunting narrative of her film, creating a powerful cinematic experience that explores bold storytelling in unique ways.
Following the screening, dive deeper with a special Q&A session where Caroline will share behind-the-scenes insights into Diary of a Ghost and discuss her vision in programming these standout shorts together.

This year, as part of SFW24, we’re delighted to offer two evenings of outstanding short films including winners of SFW: Shorts. The festival’s own short film competition holds its glittering Screening and Awards Ceremony at MAST Mayflower Studios on Sunday 10th November. Short Story Cinema 1 follows the City Eye monthly film network which starts at 6pm.
City Eye Film Network is open to anyone working in or aspiring to work in the film and media sector. This month the event will focus on Filming in the Region with a panel of experts and opportunities to ask questions and network informally with other attendees.
