Hello and welcome to Southampton Film Week – looking a little different this year in 2020!
It is with regret this year that we are not able to enjoy our favourite aspect of Southampton Film Week – meeting and bringing together audiences and filmmakers to experience in person the best in film and digital art; to network, exchange thoughts, ideas and knowledge, and to experience film and other art-forms as the filmmaker or artist intended. We are sad too not to be launching a programme in collaboration with all of our stalwart partners of previous years; enabling us to bring together the film, arts and heritage sectors, education, communities, hospitality and more. Be assured that the conversations and commitment to a future rich and inspiring SFW programme are ongoing and we will all work together to ensure that a live, real world SFW is possible at the earliest time.
But all is not lost! There are still great events on offer and we have again received a fabulous field of submissions for our own competition, SFW: Shorts. With films from across the globe, representing different cultures and experiences, some very of the moment and others reflecting on different times, arriving at a shortlist has not been easy but we are delighted with the 19 films now listed as our official shortlist. All films can be viewed at vimeo.com/ondemand/sfwshorts2020 and we invite you to vote for your personal favourite once you have watched them all.
We are also very excited to partner with Amplify Film Festival, a virtual event curated by our colleagues at Bath, Cambridge, Cornwall and Cinecity Brighton festivals, and to offer all Southampton Film Week fans and audience members the opportunity to engage with its programme with a 10% discount code.
