Looking back at SFW23: Launch Night

With just one event left to go – The traditional Film Week Quiz! at Mettricks, Guildhall – We take a look back at the Launch Night

Written by Nathan Jeffree (Southampton Film Week Volunteer)

On Friday 10th November, the sixteenth annual Southampton Film Week held its launch night. Filmmakers, aspiring filmmakers, and those who just simply love film came together at MAST Mayflower Studios to experience the works from the array of creative talents who call Southampton – shortlisted in 2022 to become the United Kingdom’s City of Culture in 2025 – home. It is my privilege to have been given the opportunity to write this blog post about my experience at the event and I also wish to explain why events such as Southampton Film Week are vital for both the expansion of filmmaking opportunities as well as the preservation of film going forward.
