COMPETITIONS
Southampton Film Week is focused on providing opportunities for filmmakers to showcase and celebrate their work as well as to develop their knowledge and skill through a range of film screenings, competitions, networking and workshops.SFW hosts several competitions for filmmakers and writers and offers opportunities for films to be screened out of competition at one of our short film programmes.
SFW: Shorts 2016
SFW: Shorts, our short film competition, was launched in 2012 and attracts films from across the globe. The competition is open to all and offers freedom in theme and genre. The only limitation set is the maximum length of 10 minutes (including titles and credits).
All shortlisted films will be eligible for the Michael Fuller Award for Best Film and the Audience Award; filmmakers from Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey, West Sussex and Isle of Wight will also be in contention for the Regional Filmmaker Prize launched at SFW in 2015. Exposure Filmmakers 48 hour Challenge
Exposure Filmmakers is a networking group that meets monthly in Southampton to discuss and develop members’ film projects and ideas.Once a year, over a weekend some when before Southampton Film Week, the Exposure group issues a challenge to all filmmakers to make a film in 48 hours.
The films are screened, judged and awarded prizes during Southampton Film Week. Team submissions for this years 48 hour film challenge are currently open. |
YFF: College Filmmaking Challenge
The College Filmmaking Challenge is a competition for AS/A2 Level students to produce a short film meeting 3 simple criteria.
Given just the title and a line of dialogue students are challenged to make a film up to 4 minutes in length – but beyond that creative freedom is theirs! The films are judged, screened and awarded prizes during Southampton Film Week.Click here for information about the 2017 Challenge. |
